Week 11: Did you think to pray?

Hello! I hope you are all having a great week so far!

There has been lots going on this week, but it has been a good week nonetheless! We had an awesome stake activity Saturday. The stake president here is really mission oriented and he organized a stake activity for the youth. Each full time missionary got 3-4 youth and we took them out and proselyted. It was so much fun and it was a great learning experience for me and the girls I was with. They were super awesome and they each did a few door approaches by themselves! I was so impressed with them. Then we had a testimony meeting after and it was really cool to see how much they were able to grow from this experience. It made me even more grateful to be out serving a mission.

Then that night one of our investigators came to the visitors’ center! That was a huge step for her and she loved it so much! It is so amazing the spirit that people are able to feel when they come in and how much the Spirit is able to speak to them. She grew so much from that experience.

Also, today was transfers! Tuesday night Sister Davidson and I got the call that lists all the people that are being transferred, and we weren’t on it!! We get to stay in our area together!! I am very thankful to be able to continue to serve with her and to continue to teach all of our investigators here. Another awesome thing that came out of transfers was that they moved another set of sisters into our ward! That is definitely a great blessing because with us being in the visitors center all day we aren’t able to get to as many people as we would like to. But now there’s four of us in the ward so they will be able to help out! We also found out that we were switching districts which is super depressing because we were good friends with our district leader and his companion, they helped us out a lot since we don’t have any elders in our own ward. But that’s okay, a mission is for new experiences and to further the Lord's work, so it will be fun to learn from a new district leader and make more new friends. We get to keep Thursday p-days and stay in the same house, so that is awesome as well!

We had to clean some really awful dirty dishes at a members house so she gave us some of her t-shirts to wear over our dresses... haha good times

I read something in the Jesus the Christ book this morning that I found very inspiring. It said something along the lines that God doesn’t need our prayers. If we don’t pray to him he is still God. But if we don’t pray to him, we cannot get into heaven and be successful in this life. Praying is such a gift that we have and we should take full advantage of it while we are here on earth! Heavenly Father provided a way for us to receive divine inspiration and communicate with him and that is just so amazing to me. How blessed we truly are!

I love you all!

Week 10: Faith and More Crazy Weather

Hello everyone!
I hope that you are all having fantastic weeks! I have really enjoyed this past week here in Missouri!
We had zone conference last week and it was amazing! All of the training's were so good and I had all of my questions answered and it strengthened my faith so much! That is a big thing I have learned while I have been out on a mission, faith is not a passive thing. It is an active thing and we need to always be strengthening it or else we will lose it.
Half of my zone on the temple lot Joseph Smith dedicated here in Independence

Elder Christensen and I finally found each other! Half of my zone went to zone conference in Liberty- where he is serving! (friend from Sonoran Mountain Ward and SDOHS)

The visitors center has been pretty busy this past week because of spring break. We do a lot of tours with just one missionary so I don't get to see my companion very much during shift :( But we get to cover so many more people so that is amazing!  I have had so many awesome tours, but there was one yesterday that really stood out to me. So this woman came in and I was talking to her and trying to figure out where would be the best places to take her. She told me that she was recently reactivated and she doesn't know why she came in today. She said she drove four hours because she felt that she could be close to God here and that she could find what she needed. But she didn't know what she needed... So on that note, not having any idea what would help her, I took her on a tour of all of the very spiritual things and not the history. After every spiritual presentation she would tell me she still hasn't found what she needs yet and that is all she would say. So I took her downstairs and had her watch a video and while she was doing that I left the room and I prayed to Heavenly Father to be able to know what she needs to hear and where I need to take her. As I was walking back into the room I felt that she needed the history tour. I thought that was weird at first because she didn't come for the history but I knew that it would help her because it was an answer to my pray. So I took her through the history tour and she started to get teary eyed. I tried to ask her how she was feeling and talk about it to help her but all she said was that she found what she was looking for and then she left. So I am still very confused on the whole experience but I think that it is so amazing that even though I had no idea what was going on, Heavenly Father knows her personally and He knows exactly what she needs and He was able to help direct me to that.  So everyone always says this but I experienced it for myself this week.

We also had our last district meeting of the transfer yesterday! That was sad, but it was so good! There was a lot of awesome testimonies and trainings. And Sister Davidson and I were the ones picked to do the role plays #scary. Our first one was pretty good but then our second one was sooo much worse... haha so that was interesting but I definitely learned a lot! Role playing is so so so awkward but I always learn so much when I do it and I am always so much more prepared to teach. We have transfers next week, so I'm scared for that! I would love to stay in my area because I finally know the members and love them so much, but I will go where the Lord needs me.

My cute district

Missouri's weather is crazy! So last week started out with a tornado and hail and then it warmed up to like 70 degrees and then earlier this week it was snowing and freezing cold!! Missouri just can't make up its mind!
Snowing on our walk day.

I love you all lots! Thanks for all the letters and emails! I really love getting pictures from you all, pictures are the best!
Much love,
Sister Cammack

An amazing car I found today with the best plate ever!

Week 9: Harry Truman and a Big Salad

Hello everyone! I hope that your week has been great!
So this week President Vest (the mission president) came into the visitors’ center and asked me to give him a tour... so that was terrifying. He was pretending to be a non-member. My comp and I didn’t do too well but he gave us a lot of good pointers. And that ended up being a pretty awesome experience because 2 days later we had a nonmember come in who asked basically the exact same questions President Vest did so we were able to answer them really well and leave him with a Book of Mormon, so that was way cool! The Lord really does prepare us :)

On Monday night it was raining pretty hard and it started hailing pretty huge pieces of ice. We were at an investigators house at the time, and she is completely terrified of any kind of rain, wind, hail, any weather basically. So we were trying to help her stay calm and help her kid as well. Then the tornado sirens started going off and we all had to go in her basement and it was definitely a struggle to keep her from freaking out. Luckily the sirens stopped pretty quickly and we were able to go upstairs and say a prayer with her and read from the Bible and the Book of Mormon. It was amazing the difference that made. By the time we left, she was very calm and relaxed.

I took a few interesting tours this week. One lady came in thinking we were the Harry Truman visitors center and boy was she surprised, haha. Then we had 2 people came in who knew SOOOOO much church history, but they weren’t members! It was so weird. They just said that they had a lot of interest in church history. But every time we asked them about their faith and whatnot, they ignored us. Sooo that was interesting. One guy came in who knew where New River was! He said he lived in Queen Creek before it was officially called Queen Creek. And then I had a lot of awesome member tours from people visiting from out of state. And I took my first tour by myself this week!!! I did the history and everything! It was such a good experience :)

A big salad a la Elaine in Seinfeld!

I got to go to the Kansas City Zoo today! It was so big; we were only able to get through half of it. But it was a blast, I love doing fun things around the town on our p-day!
We have been very blessed with safety here and I am very thankful for that! I love you all!
