Week 47: What are they doin' at the jailhouse?

This week was AMAZING!!!
I know I say that every week but let’s be real, how could the week not be great when I’m serving the Lord.
This week’s highlights:

  • We had such a good district meeting this past week! we all got to bear our testimony since it was the last one of the transfer, it was really sweet!
Last district meeting of the transfer

  • Thanksgiving was the best day of my life!!! So, we all woke up and drove down to the Visitors Center and we got to have breakfast with all of them and all of the sisters going home bore their testimony. Their testimonies were so strong and so tender. They are all such great role models to me, especially my compy (shout out to Sis Dawson)

  • Then after breakfast we went to visit one of my fav people in NKC ward! We brought her cookies and got to talk to her for a little bit.

  • Then we went to a delicious thanksgiving and this was the best part, she bought me a dairy free cheesecake!!!! I almost cried of happiness. it was so good.

  • Then we went with a lot of the other missionaries in our zone and raked random members leaves for the rest of the night. It was such a fun service.

  • We got to go to the Visitor Center with my fav person as well! We had a blast and got to watch the restoration videos about the Book of Mormon. They are seriously so good

  • Saturday, we had 2 sister missionaries with us so the 4 of us just had a great time doing missionary work and then having lunch at Panda! Love them both!

  • Alrighty, last night was the realest miracle of my life. we knocked on a door and this guy answered and we talked for a little and he said that the mormons knocked on his brother’s door and it completely changed his brother’s life around and he is so impressed by it. he also said that he is ready to make some changes in his own life so we asked if we could come back and share a message and he said, that would be a blessing. SO COOOOL!!! we are so excited to go teach him

  • So here’s a fun story: there are 8 sister missionaries living in our house and we all serve at the Historic Liberty Jail. We all got matching shirts that are supposed to be like concert shirts and they are so cool! The shirts say, what are they doing at the jail house, because our zone leaders wrote us a rap about what 8 sisters do in one house.

  • Part two to that fun story: last night we all got together and put our shirts on, put our Christmas tree up, listened to Christmas music, and took a photo shoot! pics to come
  • This morning Sister Dawson and I studied in the Liberty Jail. On the same exact floor Joseph Smith and the other men were kept on during their stay at the jail. It was such a powerful experience. I read this amazing talk, lessons from Liberty Jail from the September 2009 Ensign. Pls read it. Its so good!!!!

The actual coolest new Mormon Message just came out. It is so applicable to our lives, it is a modern day good Samaritan. There is a song we have here that I love and one line says, I got so caught up in serving that I forgot it was all for you (Christ) The biggest thing I have learned here is that our lives can be full of good things, but we have to make room for the promptings of the spirit to direct us to do the little things along the way as well. Here is a link to that vid:https://www.lds.org/media-library/video/2017-01-009-a-good-samaritan?lang=eng&_r=1&cid=HP_FR_17-11-2017_dPFD_fMLIB_xLIDyL2-4_

love you all!

Week 46: Kansas City

Hello! This was such a great week, and it was full of miracles!

  • We went to downtown Kansas City last p-day! That was seriously the most fun thing ever! I loved it! I hadn’t been there for so long.
    Kansas City Reppin

  • While we were in Kansas City we got a text from a less active family that we had never talked to before saying that they wanted a blessing. So we went over there with the elders that night and they gave them a blessing and it was such a spiritual experience! #miracle
All the sisters that went to Kansas City for p-day

  • We did the actual coolest service I have ever done in my whole life. So, there is a place in our area that is like a little store and people come in who don’t have money for clothes and we get to take them around and help them get what they need. I took this little 8-year-old girl around and she was so excited just to have shoes that weren’t worn out! Then she told us she had a program at school that night so we helped her pick out a dress to wear to it. It was definitely the most humbling, heart breaking but rewarding service I have ever done.

  • MAJOR MIRACLE!!! So, we go over to our investigator, L's house to do service for her. She ended up not wanting service but a lesson instead. As we taught it was 100% from the Holy Ghost and it was the most spirit filled lesson I have ever been in. Then she brought up baptism and said that she wants to work towards it!!! She brought it up!!! She is now on date for January 15th!

  • I went on exchanges on Thursday with Sister Bingham, and I seriously learned so much! I love her lots!!
    Me and Sister Bingham

  • We had an appointment on Friday with one of the less-actives in our ward that we teach every week. We get to the appointment and instead of her sitting on the couch, it is her grandson who wants to be baptized! He has a lot to learn still but he is so amazing! I love teaching him! #miracle #makingNKCgreatagain

This week was just the greatest! As I was studying this week, I came across a talk that I love so much. It is from April 2015 general conference (currently my favorite sessions, they are all so good). This talk is called, "Is it still wonderful to you?" It talks about how so many times it is so easy to fall into the routine of the gospel and not notice how wonderful it really is! He gives us three steps that we can follow to make sure that doesnt happen. I invite you all to read it apply these steps into your life! https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/is-it-still-wonderful-to-you?lang=eng

Companions!
I hope you all have a great thanksgiving week!
much love,
