Week 52: Faith and Freezing Temperatures

Jamesport

This week was AMAZING!! Another beautiful week in Kansas City. I don’t have much time today because I went to Jamesport! It is an Amish community. But here are the deets of my week:

  • I took an AMAZING tour this week! Actually, I took a few awesome ones. It has been getting busier with Christmas break coming to an end. But i especially loved this one. It was a pretty large family, with kids of all ages. They had an amazing spirit about them and I could tell that they really wanted to be here and that they had a very strong connection with each other. They answered all of my questions and we had a lot of awesome discussions. I loved it!

  • We have been finding this a lot recently! And we are seeing a lot of people come from that! it is so cool to just get to go knock on doors and talk about Jesus Christ all day long.

  • C WAS BAPTIZED!!! seriously, coolest kid ever. It was an honor to meet him and get to teach him. He truly loves God and understands baptism really well. Amazing kid!

  • Okay, craziest part of my week, it has been so cold! It is usually about 0 degrees. But it did reach 6 yesterday! haha they were not kidding when they said that winters here were cold!
My water bottle froze in the car!

    -2 degrees!

  • This is one of the coolest things that has happened my entire mission. So here in the visitor center and at the historic liberty jail we teach online. Whenever someone goes on mormon.org to chat with representatives or order a free Bible or Book of Mormon, we are the ones on the other side. When we get to talk with someone and are able to send missionaries to them, we call it a referral. In November, the Jail got 30 referrals, which is super low. The directors here created an initiative to help us get more pumped! It was called #beattemplesquare (they are the largest online teaching center) To do that, the jail needed to get 200 referrals and the VC needed 400. Which is a lot! But drumroll please...

WE DID IT!!! It was so cool! we went forward with a lot of faith and we worked really hard and we saw miracles come from that!
200 referrals, 8 sisters, 31 days

I have been thinking a lot about faith recently and I wanted to share this quote. "Choose faith over doubt, choose faith over fear, choose faith over the unknown and the unseen." - Richard C Edgley. Fear and doubt are very strong emotions and it can become easy to question our faith when we are wrapped up in doubt and fear. But these things do not come from God. As we look to Him and to Christ, we can find relief from these feelings and the suffering that comes with them. Our faith can be strengthened, and we can find joy in this life because of it! What a wonderful blessing :)

I love you all! Stay warm!
