Week 42: Transfers and Elder De Hoyos

Sister Dawson and Sister Cammack

So much has happened this past week! It has literally been insane, but that’s mission life :)
Soooooo…

  • Sister Rust got transferred!! super sad :( But I stayed in North Kansas City ward in the jail and Sister Dawson is my new companion! She is seriously the best, I am so stoked for this next transfer!

  • I was called to be a Visitor Center Trainer (kind of like a Sister Training Leader for the Liberty Jail) I am so excited and nervous for this amazing opportunity! I get to go on exchanges with other sister missionaries and I go to mission leadership conferences. I’m also in charge of a lot of clerical stuff at the jail. It reminds me a lot of my good ol’ band times.

  • We moved into the jail house!! The jail house is a house right by the Historic Liberty Jail and usually only 3 of the 4 companionships live there but they took a car away from our rotation so now we all live there!! 8 sisters! it is so crazy but so much fun! I am looking forward to this transfer so much, we are all such good friends. Also, it means we all get to share each other’s clothes. Watch out world- I now have 8 closets.

  • Elder De Hoyos came to MO and spoke in our stake conference, it was so good! He also came to the jail after and we got to take him through and go inside and take a pic with him! It was awesome!

  • We have been getting a really solid amount of referrals this week! It has been a huge blessing! Basically I am just so excited for this transfer! It is going to be such a great one and we are going to see so many miracles.

Our stake president gave an amazing talk at stake conference yesterday. He listed 4 things that we need to be doing in order to claim the great blessings that Heavenly Father has in store for us. The 4 things are daily prayer, scripture study, having family home evening and regular temple attendance. The one that really stood out to me was having family home evening. It is such an easy thing to skip over in today’s busy world but if we aren’t making time for Heavenly Father in our life, then our life is too busy with the wrong things. I know that as we make time for our Heavenly Father and the things he has counseled us to do, like family home evenings, then we will be so blessed and our family will be so blessed!
I love and miss you all!
