Week 21: Fireflies and the Batcave!

Rooftop garden at Community of Christ church

Hello everyone!
I hope that you have had a great week so far! Sorry for the late email, they have changed my pday to Friday for the rest of this transfer because the visitors center is starting to get busy so they needed more sisters on shift on Thursdays.

But speaking of the visitors center getting busier, it is great! There have been a few days this past week when I barely sat down all shift, I was on tours the whole time. And I love that so much because I get to meet so many different people and I get to share the gospel even more.
All of us sisters at the VC going over trivia and history, waiting for people to come in so that we could take them on tours!

So miracle story of the week! Two men walked into the visitors center and Sister Mudrow and I greeted them. We soon found out that they were deaf and that there was no way for us to communicate with them. So we showed them around a little bit and then had them watch an ASL video. While they were watching the video we called some elders serving near by because one of them is called ASL! So they rushed over here and helped out the 2 men and showed them around and answered their questions. And it was really awesome because it turns out that neither of them were members, they were just interested in other religions. The miracle part is that just that morning, the ASL Elder, Elder Sandcamp, had been doing his language study and he felt like he wasn't having a lot of opportunities to use his ASL so he prayed that he would have an opportunity to do so. And then later that day is when all of this happened! God truly does answer our prayers if we will just show our faith and do what He has asked of us.

Last night we were sitting on a members porch trying to figure some church things out and we started talking about fireflies because I had never seen one before and then like half an hour later, I saw my first firefly!! They are so cool looking! That was quite the experience.

My first Church's Chicken!

Today was such a great pday! We were able to go to the Independence Square and shop around for a little bit (but I found out that the boba shop moved! So that was quite devastating!) And then we went and took a tour through the Community of Christ temple, which was cool to see another religions viewpoint, and then we toured the batcave, which is the basement of the stake center where they keep all the extra missionary apartment furniture and supplies.

The Batcave!

It was a great day and I am having the best time on my mission! Independence, MO is so great!
I love you all!
