Week 16: Are you the Wolverine?

Kansas City Temple

Hello everyone!
I don't have much time today but that is okay because we got to go to the temple earlier today!! The Kansas City temple is gorgeous and it was a huge blessing to be able to go today.  Their design that goes throughout is the olive branch and it is just so beautiful inside, I loved every minute. It was also a great session, there was another senior couple in the session and someone from our ward and we didn’t even know they were going to be there! There is a senior couple that we love that works there on Thursdays so they took us home after but they took us out to Olive Garden first! So that was a fun treat!

This past week has been great but it definitely included a lot of hard work. We don't really have any investigators right now so we have been tracting all week long. Then Sunday comes and we had 2 hours to be out in our area and so we decided to ask a 19 yr old girl, Carmen, who is going on a mission soon if she wanted to come. And she did! So we were tracting with her and we went to a former investigators house from a few years ago and she let us in! That never happens! She was Community of Christ but we told her about some new Book of Mormon movies we had at the Visitors Center and she said she would love to check them out. Then we were knocking doors and a teenage girl answered and we showed her a video and talked a little and then asked if she wanted to learn more, and she said yes! That has never happened on my mission! So we have a lesson for her later this week and we have been texting her. I’m so excited! I also have this awesome person I’m teaching on teaching center, she wants to learn more about Mormonism because the Bible says to have an open heart and as I’ve been teaching her she’s really started to connect with it and she listens to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir when she works and she says she feels the Spirit when she does that and it is just so awesome! I love sharing the Gospel so much!  I love seeing these miracles and how they come after we put in the hard work and show God that we are willing to work hard and that we really want to serve these people.

So bad news, unfortunately I don't live in the nicest part of town and people have started to steal our mail. But! The good news is that the mission office will keep my mail safe if it is sent there, until I have time to pick it up. So my mailing address (mission office address) is 517 W Walnut St. Independence, MO 64050.

I hope that you all have a great week! Love you all!

Week 15: Adam-Ondi-Ahman

Near Adam-Ondi-Ahman

Hello everyone!
This has been such a great week, we were able to do so much this week! Here are a few highlights:

We had zone conference on Friday! I love love love zone conferences! I always learn so much because there are so many good trainings. How well our zone leaders teach and how sensitive they are to the spirit blows me away every time.

Saturday E and E got baptized! They were recently adopted by their Grandma who is in our ward and they weren’t really raised in the church so we had the privilege of teaching them more and helping them so that they could decide for themselves if they would like to join. And they both joined and a lot of their family was able to make it to the baptism and it was such a tender experience. They are the best!

Then on Monday all of the Visitors' Center sisters who hadn’t been yet got to go to Adam-Ondi-Ahman and Far west historic site! These are 2 places that are important not only in church history but in the churches future as well. It was so amazing! It was such a huge testimony builder and I loved being able to see the place where Joseph Smith and some of the other early saints lived and where the temple lot was dedicated.

One of the coolest parts was preachers rock. The Elder giving us the tour had about half of us sisters go down this hill, a good distance away from preachers rock. Then he just spoke in a normal voice- as if we were right next to him, and we could hear him!! It was insane! So that was amazing. The rest of it was very cool too of course. There was such a sweet and special spirit there, especially at Adam-Ondi-Ahman. I love this mission!

We also have had someone who works at the Salt Lake City offices here visiting for the past few days. He has been training all the Visitor Center sisters and it has been amazing! He has taught us so much; I don't know what to work on first! But I am so excited because I know everything he taught will improve the tours so much!

I hope that you are all able to make it a great week this week! It is a common saying in this mission for people to say, make it a great week, or make it a great day. And I think that it is awesome because we can’t control what happens to us, or what is said to us, but we can control how we react and how we move on from that situation.
I love you all!

Week 14: Happy Easter!

"egging" houses with scriptures

Hello everyone!

This week has been great! We got to do a lot of tracting, teaching, tours, finding and it was my mission birthday a few days ago! I have been out for 3 months even though it still feels like I just left the mtc, it is so crazy how time flies when you are serving the Lord! I have loved tracting and finding this week because Easter is on Sunday so we get to show everyone the amazing new Easter video on mormon.org. It is such a powerful 2 minute clip and it really connects with everyone.

We had exchanges this week with the sister training leaders and that was so good! I learned so much from Sister GC. We got to go and meet one of their new investigators. Her name is Isabella and she has been going to mutual for years and she can finally be baptized because she just turned 18 and is no longer living with her parents who did not want her to join. So we get to the lesson and she already has her own set of scriptures! Then as we start going through the lesson, I invite her to be baptized and she accepts! She is being baptized April 22! Then we start teaching about the Book of Mormon and we ask her what she knows about it and she says, Well, I know that it’s true. That was so awesome, that never happens! Then after the lesson she was telling us that she wants to go on a mission when she is able to. She is such a sweet girl and I am so excited for her to join the church! She is the STLs (Sister Training Leader) investigator so I probably won’t be able to go to the baptism but I am still so excited!

Today was a great pday! We got to egg attack some front doors with scriptures, go golfing and go to Costco. We also went thrift shopping this morning. It has been great!

I hope you all have a beautiful Easter! I invite you all to go check out the Easter video the church has put out on mormon.org about our Savior, the Prince of Peace. The church has also released 8 short clips that focus on attributes we can develop to become more like our Savior and develop more peace. I also invite you all to go pick one of those videos and really try and work on that attribute, especially during this Easter season.

I love you all!
