Week 55: Best Week of My Life

Matching at the Visitors' Center!

okay
get ready
for the best week of my mission!!!
I have literally felt happiness and love so strong this week, stronger than I have ever felt it in my entire life. Let me tell you the story…

So once upon a time we were knocking a complex and sharing the gospel. We knocked 7/8 of the doors and then left. I think we got distracted or something and forgot the last door. Then the next day we are trying to visit a family in our congregation that I know and we knock on the door and I do not recognize the person who answers. So, we ask if this is *insert families name who we were looking for* and they said, yeah. We explained that we were the sisters and long story short it was actually the less active son and non-member wife of the family we were trying to visit. And they lived in that 8th door that we knocked. They let us in and basically long story short, she wants to join the church! And some things had happened so that if we had knocked the day before, they wouldn’t have been ready. But God led us there in His timing!!!
So, then we were supposed to have a lesson with her but she got sick so we were so sad buuuut technology saved us! We skyped her and had the most amazing lesson of my mission! And she is now on date! And she came to church.
This experience has truly humbled me and really showed me that this is God's work and things will happen in His timing. The Spirit testified to me so strong as we taught and as I was able to watch the Spirit testify to her.
The mission is so life changing everyone.
Another amazing thing that happened this week was the new first presidency was announced! I loved being able to watch the press conference and I felt the spirit so strong as I did so! These men truly are called of God and are prepared to lead Jesus Christ's church, here on the earth.
I love you all!

Week 54: Ice Storm and Miracles

New Companions: Sister Cammack and Hermana Farnsworth

Hello again!
This has been one of the craziest weeks of my life but it has definitely been such a great one! Here are the highlights:

  • We were supposed to have transfers on Thursday- but we get a text super super early Thursday morning saying that transfers are cancelled due to bad weather that day. Then about an hour later we get another text saying that the fleet is grounded so we couldn’t use our car.... Since all of the jail sisters don’t live in their area- we get to get pretty creative! It ended up being an amazing day! In the morning time we cleaned the downstairs of the building because we are getting new computers this week! It is really exciting! Then in the afternoon the assistants brought in all of the new missionaries and we were able to do role plays with them and give them some trainings on being a missionary. It was a really special time and I am so grateful for the chance I had to be able to meet and help some of the new missionaries

  • We had transfers Friday morning! Sister Gudgeon went to Liberty 1st ward and I got Hermana Farnsworth! She is amazing! She has been out on the mission a little longer than me and has served at the jail before, so we hit the ground running! There has been so much to do these past few days, but we have seen so many miracles!

    End of transfer dress up!

2nd to last night as companions - Sister Cammack and Sister Gudgeon

  • We had a super awesome lesson this week! We taught the restoration and the spirit was so strong. it was such a special experience!

  • We seriously took the coolest tour the other day. So we get onto shift and there is a tour in the rotunda. We go in to take it and find out that it is some nonmembers, but they had a really strong faith in Christ and God and in following the commandments. So we talked about that a lot and we were really able to connect with them. The spirit was there once again and at the end of the tour we gave them Book of Mormons and they said they wanted to come back. It was such a cool miracle!

I have been thinking a lot about the Spirit, and how important its role is in our lives. I was reading out of Preach my Gospel this morning and there was a whole paragraph listing things that the Spirit can do for us. For example, he has a cleansing effect, he testifies of Christ, helps us recognize truth, he provides spiritual strength, he can warn us and he provides the power by which we teach and learn. The paragraph goes on to say that the gift of the Holy Ghost is one of our Heavenly Father's most precious gifts. I think we can really see that from the things listed above, but especially from the fact that he provides the power by which we teach and learn. We are here on earth to learn and grow and then help others do the same. We cannot do this without having the Spirit with us. That then puts forth the challenge of us needing to always live worthy of having the Spirit in our lives. I would like to invite you all to ponder this week on something you could do better to invite the Spirit more fully into your life. I know that as we all do this we will be able to be stronger teachers and learners and we will feel the blessings that come from the Spirit.

I love you all and I hope that you have a great week!

Week 53: Penguin Park

Hello everyone!
This past week was a pretty great one!
Here are the highlights:

  • We had an awesome lesson with S! She is so amazing!

  • I got to go on exchanges with Hermana Zarate!!! I have known her since the beginning of my mission and she is such a great sister! I learned so much and we both had such a great time :)

  • We had a really cool experience tracting! We were out knocking doors and we were at this one house that wasn't answering their door but as we walked away a man came out of his garage and said we could come in because it was so cold outside! So we got to go inside and teach him and his wife! They were so awesome to talk to and teach. It was so cool because we were able to connect really well. They had moved a lot in their life like me, and had lived in a lot of the same places. So we were able to talk about how Jesus Christ can be our constant in life.

  • I was just ending a tour when one of the senior elders, Elder Bronson comes to get me because another tour needed to be started. As we are walking down the hallway he tells me they are from northern Phoenix... I was excited to meet them! I come in and I can only see 3 of them but I don't recognize any of them so they ask where I am from and I say New River. Then the one in the back that I couldn't see asks my name and I tell him- and it was my stake president!!!! Haha we totally didn't recognize each other!! But then we did and I got to take him on a tour and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life!!! The Spirit was so strong

  • I took another really special tour this week. A little family came in and the mom was from the Philippines. She said that she grew up looking at pictures of these church history sites in her scriptures, but it was always just a dream to be able to go. And now she was here! It was one of the most powerful tours ever and I know that it was that way because she came so prepared to be changed.

  • It was the last week of the transfer! Time is flying, transfer calls are tonight and then Thursday I start my 9th transfer! It seriously blows my mind

  • We had such a great pday today! We went to this fun park called "Penguin Park" then we went to a cool ice cream place and had rolled ice cream with boba on top! It was a great day!

President Monson passed away this past week. It was definitely sad but I also know we are so blessed to know he is with his sweet wife right now. In a training meeting this week we were able to listen to an amazing talk that he gave awhile ago. It was called, "Finishers Wanted". It talks all about the importance of enduring to the end, but being like Christ our whole lives as well. That is how we can find true happiness. Here is a link, I would love to invite you all the read or listen to it.  https://www.lds.org/general-conference/1972/04/finishers-wanted?lang=eng

Love you all!!
