Week 51: New Zealand + Arizona + Snow = Chaos

Sister Gudgeon and I before church on Sunday

This week was such a great one! Christmas on the mission was definitely one of the most amazing experiences ever. It has been such an honor to be serving my Savior Jesus Christ, during the season that we celebrate Him.
Christmas morning at the jail!

Here are some of the highlights:

  • We had our first district meeting of the transfer. It was so great! We have an amazing district this transfer

  • On Christmas Eve we had a concert at the Independence Visitors' Center. It was amazing! I loved being able to sing with my other sisters and I was able to do a duet on my flute with Sister Gudgeon.
I played Silent Night - a Cammack Family tradition on Christmas Eve

  • It snowed this week! multiple times! Haha it has been a really cool experience for Sister Gudgeon and I, as she is from New Zealand and I’m from AZ.
    Failed jumping picture!

  • We had a breakfast with all of the senior couples on Christmas morning. All of us sisters dressed up and did the nativity for them. It was so special!
I'm part of the stable - ha ha!

  • Our zone had a Christmas party after that, and that was great! It was so cool to be with all the other missionaries. Everyone was so happy and we had a great time

  • I got to skype my family! That was definitely so special, and I loved that.

  • It was my brother’s birthday! And Joseph Smiths! haha December 23rd was an awesome day.
Happy Birthday to Josh and Joseph Smith! We got a little carried away with the birthday hats - ha ha!
  • I got to go to Independence like 3 times. I love Independence so much!!
  • I got to see Sister Welch all 3 times I went!! She is such an amazing missionary, I loved seeing her!
    Sister Welch - my daughter!

  • I took some really cool tours this week! 2 families from my last ward came and that was really powerful because I already knew them and we were able to really focus on the Spirit felt there.

Someone asked me recently what part of my testimony has grown the most on my mission. That was a hard question because I feel like my entire testimony has grown so much. But I definitely feel like the part that has grown the most is that God is so aware of all His children. He not only knows me personally, but He knows everyone in my life that I care about personally as well. He is going to be there for them, just like He is there for me. That has brought me so much comfort and peace on my mission. And I know that you can feel that same thing and rely on Heavenly Father in that same way if you pray and ask Him and then have faith. As we have faith, miracles happen in our lives.

I love you all! Don't stop trying to be Christlike just because Christmas is over! We need it all the time!

Week 50: Zone Conference Week

With Sister Gudgeon at the Kansas City Temple

This week was a great one! Just like every week, haha! Being a missionary is just such a blessing
Here are the highlights:

  • MIRACLE! We had like no time in our area so we were going though trying to visit some potentials and none of them were home. As we were walking back to our car we decided to talk to this random guy working on his car, and he was super open and we were able to teach him the Restoration! And we will hopefully get to continue teaching him over skype.

  • A. was baptized last week and we had dinner with her family, they are so amazing! i love the gospel and what it is able to do for families :)

  • we put C. on date for December 30th! We are super excited!

  • We had exchanges this past week, and we saw miracles of course. Exchanges are the best!
Exchanges! Someone we visited gave us Christmas friends!

  • We had ZONE CONFERENCE!! and we got to go to the temple!! It was the best zone conference of my life. It was amazing being able to go to the temple with other missionaries that I look up to so much

  • Last but not least! I got to go to Independence yesterday! I love Independence, it was so great! We get to go back to the Visitor's Center in Independence and sing on Christmas Eve. And then on Christmas morning all of the VC and Jail sisters are going to Independence for a breakfast and to do a Nativity. It will be lots of fun!

We have lots of great things coming up this week, I am quite excited!
This week I have been thinking a lot about Christ, and what His love can do not only for us as individuals, but also for us as families. God has put us in families for a reason and Christ can help us strengthen those families. It really hit me as I was at my ward Christmas party watching them all bond so much over Christ. Had it not been for Christ, these people wouldnt even know eachother, but here they were, celebrating His life together. I was truly amazed. And then the next day I watched this video and it just goes perfectly along with how I was feeling. Watch this!! It is such a beautiful song for our Savior!

I love you all! Merry Christmas!

Week 49: Slim Chickens

Historic Liberty Jail

Hello!
This week was another great one! And it warmed up a little bit- which is always appreciated!
Lots of exciting things happened, here are some highlights:

  • A. was baptized!! I don’t have any pics yet, but it was such a special day. Her husband was able to baptize her and her little kids sat right up close with their faces smushed against the glass, everyone was so excited.

  • We met C! He is a younger boy who I am so impressed with because he is so naturally drawn to the gospel! I love it!

  • The members of this ward are so nice everybody! It blows my mind every time I talk to them! They are seriously willing to help us in anyway, it is so crazy and awesome!

  • We had about 10,000 meetings this past week, but I loved them all! I learned so much about faith and about how to be a better disciple of Christ.
    Slim Chickens

  • Miracle at Slim Chickens: Slim Chickens is one of our fav restaurants. After A's baptism we stopped by to get dinner and one of the workers came up to us and asked if we served in Liberty, and we said yes. Then he went on to say that he has been trying to get ahold of the missionaries in Liberty forever because his friend really wants to learn more about the gospel. Coolest miracle ever!!!

Anyways, life is so good and I am so happy to be a missionary right now! Happy isn’t even an adequate word to describe it. It is just so great!

I have been thinking a lot this week about our Savior. Everything that we do in life needs to be centered on Him. When we base all of our relationships and all the things we do off of Him, then they can succeed and we can find peace in life. I have been reevaluating how I spend my time and why I do what I do. As I have done this, I have found so much peace when I do things for Christ and because of Him. I invite you all to do the same!
Love and miss you all!
