Week 68: Come to Zion!

Good morning! I hope that you are all having a great week so far!

Okay everyone, this one was such a great one! I am so excited to tell you all about it!

Here are some of the little tender mercies:
  • Sister Holt and I twinned hard core this week! So I found this floral shirt at a thrift store a few weeks ago and I loved it so I bought it. Then! Last pday she found the same pattern but in cardigan style at a different thrift store. It was a beautiful thing!

  • The jail has been slowing down a little since finals and end of school and what not is coming up. But all of the tours that have come in have been really amazing!
  • Spring is finally here! MO weather is still the craziest
  • I had chocolate dairy free milk today, that made my life
  • We have had some really amazing lessons and visits this week!
  • We are going to the motherland of Independence today! I love independence!

 Okay, major miracle time!
So a man came into the Historic Liberty Jail looking for a better life. We were not on shift but some amazing sisters took him through! He was very interested so they started teaching him online. Here's were it gets crazy, after a few lessons online he agrees for local missionaries to meet with him- and we were his local missionaries! So we just had a lesson with him the other day and he is now preparing to be baptized! Something that he said really stood out to me, he said that this is all so different from what he has been taught before (he does not have a Christian background) but that he loves it and believes it. He has so much faith already!

This week we had stake conference and it was AMAZING! The best stake conference I have ever been to. It was focused around the 5 keys. They are
1. daily scripture study
2. daily prayer
3. weekly family home evening
4. frequent temple worship
5. actively sharing the gospel
They brought up these 5 keys at the last stake conference and then at this one they had members share the blessings  they have seen come into their lives as they have worked on these things. It was amazing to see how inspired these 5 things really are! They also talked a lot about how as we do these 5 things it will help us be better prepared to minister to others. I would love to invite all of you to pick one of these things and work on them so that you can receive blessings as well! I would especially like to invite you to work on family home evening if that is something your family struggles with. I have seen immense blessings on my mission from families doing family home evening.

I love you all!

Week 67: Beautiful MO Week!

I am OBSESSED with tracting these days. I was showing how happy I was by imitating one of the bird stickers on the door.

Hello!
I am so tired this week- but that just tells me that it was a great week being a missionary! If you aren't tired as a missionary- you are doing something wrong, haha!
This week really was so great though! Here are some of the highlights:
  • It reached 80 degrees! We were in heaven! It did snow the next day... haha but its warm again now so thats okay!
    We got to study outside!
  • Yesterday we got lost in a neighborhood that I had never tracted in before so we just decided to go tracting there. We got out of the car and decided that we weren't going to get back in until we passed out 2 Book of Mormons. We passed one out pretty quickly (to a really awesome guy) and then after about an hour we had almost knocked all the doors and we had 2 left before our car. The second to last house accepted a Book of Mormon! We were able to reach our goal and it was so wonderful!
    Tracting
We got lost and ended up in downtown Kansas City... haha that is 40 minutes from our home.

    My beautiful KCMO!
  •  I TOOK THE FOUNDER OF FIGHT THE NEW DRUG ON A TOUR. That was probably the most nervous I have literally ever been on a tour....
THE FOUNDER OF FIGHT THE NEW DRUG and his friend who loves Liberty Jail.
  • Our youth had an activity the other night where they had people come and talk about their missions, and they asked us to talk about ours as well. Some of the questions that the youth asked me were so funny, we were all just laughing the entire time! Mostly they just wanted to know about Arizona. But it was really special at the end we were able to share Doctrine and Covenants section 4 with them and bear our testimonies. It was really special!
  • We have had so many people come into the jail this morning that I was on back to back tours all morning! It was so special and it really hit me what an privilege it really is to have been able to serve at the Historic Liberty Jail for so long. I definitely would not trade this experience for anything.
This week I wanted to share with everyone a special video that I found on mormonchannel. It is called Our Eternal Potential. This video made a huge impact on me. I love this video because we are all in different parts of our lives, but no matter where we are, we have things or "hatchet covers" that are holding us back from reaching our potential. I know that as we identify these things and work on solving them, that our Savior will be there for us every minute of the way, helping us become better and more like Him. I would love to invite all of you to think of a "hatchet cover" in your life and start working today on solving that.

Week 66: Transfers and Spider Man!

My new comp! Sister Holt, she is amazing!

Hello everyone!
This week has definitely been a crazy one! We had transfers and President Love really shook up the entire mission! But it has been fun being able to see the miracles that happened.
  • I am staying in New Mark ward! I am follow up training Sister Holt! She is an amazing sister from Nebraska, and it has been great so far!
They also added 2 new sets of sisters to the Historic Liberty Jail and whitewashed one of the previous sets. So there are 7 new sisters serving here! Haha it has been so crazy but it has been really special because now we can have 2 sets of sisters on shift at one time, so we get to take more tours with our companions! The Jail is pretty busy these days and it is so amazing giving tours. I gave a nonmember tour to 2 families who were Restorationists the other day, it was so amazing! They were so kind and we were able to focus on our similar love and respect for Joseph Smith, especially as he was imprisoned in Liberty Jail.

Our FM missionaries came to fix our house! We love them!
teaching my favs <3
Sister Farnsworth is back in Utah now! But on her last day, her family came and we gave them and our recent convert a tour and it was one of the most spiritual tours I have ever given! It was amazing to be able to give one last special tour with Sister Farnsworth.

I think it was the week of amazing tours, because that is what my spiritual thought is about this week! Haha. So this last transfer I was doing a 40 day fast. It is something that missionaries do pretty often, but I had never done one before. We pick things we want to fast from for 40 days (like thoughts of home, being impatient, any acts of disobedience. Basically things that are holding us back). We do this so that we can become better disciples of Jesus Christ and be able to testify more powerfully as we sacrifice. On the 40th day of my 40 day fast the new missionaries came in for a tour, and it was without a doubt the most spiritual tour I have ever been able to give. I was amazed. It is beautiful to see that because those missionaries were so prepared spiritually, and because I had prepared myself, we were able to experience the spirit so strong and really feel Jesus Christ's love for us. It was so special! I know that as we sacrifice things for the Lord, even if it is small, it will bring blessings. The Lord is waiting to bless all of us, we just need to work for it and follow Him.

I love you all!

Week 65: Being a missionary is the best!

In honor of the one day of spring we had before the snow came.

Okay
real talk
This week was the best week ever!
Here are the best moments (which was basically every moment of this week):
  • We had a great lesson with B and R and we put them on date for May 12th! It was amazing!
  • We had a really fun relief society activity and G came! New Mark ward is just the best, they were so loving and everyone was saying hi to her!
  • We went to the temple to do baptisms with our recent convert, L, for the first time! The Spirit was SO strong and she loved it! It was my first time being able to do that on the mission and it was such a tender moment <3
  • S GOT BAPTIZED SATURDAY!!! S is like my favorite person in the world and working with her has been such a privilege. She sadly is moving to Independence, but I am so glad that I was able to work with her for so long!
    S. and the Larsens

All the missionaries that taught S!
  • Easter Sunday was so beautiful!! and it snowed on Easter! And today. Missouri is kind of crazy....
    Snow on Easter
  • We watched general conference with St! And it really touched her! Hearing from the leaders of the church is so powerful!
Let's talk General Conference! It was so life changing! Not only because of all of the changes, but all of the talks were really amazing as well! What really stood out to me the most was the solemn assembly. I had no idea that that was going to happen, but the Spirit was so strong, and there was no doubt in my heart or mind that this is Christ's church and that God is in charge of it. How blessed we are to have a prophet on this earth today to lead and guide us!! https://youtu.be/1MfULj9qdXw

I love you all so much! Keep sharing the Gospel and seeking out Christ in your life!
