Week 33: Total Solar Eclipse

Hello!
I just got back from the Kansas City Temple! The temple was so amazing, I love the spiritual strength that we are able to receive when we go there. It was extra amazing this time because one of my missionary friends converts was going through for the first time.

Kansas City Temple
This week was a great one! A few highlights:
- it rained like crazy! I have never seen such hard rain in my entire life! It was so fun.

- THE TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE! So the entire world came to MO for it! The Visitor’s Center was packed like crazy the whole weekend and we were giving tours nonstop. It was like the summer time again. And then the day finally came, and it was pouring buckets!! And there were clouds everywhere! But it cleared up like right before it started getting dark. We all went outside and took a ton of pics. Our district leader came and took pics with us, the Petersons did, our Ward Mission Leader came and brought us homemade brownies, and it was all so fun! So we are standing outside 20 minutes before and it is progressively getting darker and darker until it is so dark outside. We were able to take off our glasses when the moon covered the sun and it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Pictures cannot do it justice. The stars came out, it was so dark, and the moon looked like it had a shiny ring around it. Then after 45ish seconds it started moving on and we had to put the glasses back on. Then about 20 minutes later it was bright again but there were clouds everywhere! It was so so so cloudy. The Lord truly blessed us by clearing up the clouds when we went to go watch it

- We got to have a lesson with my favorite investigators! RL’s family.  We haven’t had a real lesson with them in 2 transfers- so it was a big deal! And they came to church!

- We were also able to meet with R and he decided that he wants to start taking lessons every week! It was just a great week for our investigators

- I took the most amazing tour!!! So a man and his wife, his parents and his grandma came into the visitors center. The man was the only member so I showed his family around a little bit and answered a lot of their questions about the church. Then they started looking around and he came up to me and told me that he was going through the temple for the first time on Saturday. We were talking a little about that when his wife came up and she was confused about the temple. So I took them to the temple kiosk and his whole family followed. I did a little lesson on the temple, and showed some videos and the Spirit was SO strong! The strongest I have felt it in the Visitor’s Center in a long time, it was amazing.
The Lord truly blesses us as we work hard and word to align our will with His. I am so blessed to be serving here.

A new mormon message came out, and I am in love with it. It shows how important it is to be faithful and obedient. I especially love the obedience aspect. That is something that I have really learned on my mission- how important exact obedience to the Lord's commandments is.
I love you all!

Week 32: Jack's Donuts and Awesome Investigators

VC Sisters!

Hello hello!

This week has been awesome! It has been so rainy here, which is so fun, but it makes it so humid! Definitely different than AZ.

Rain!

Some highlights from the week:
- We taught the most AMAZING lesson to S! It was the plan of Salvation and she was so excited the whole time! She kept saying she didnt know about this and how amazing it is and how she can’t wait to show her family. She agreed to start coming to church and we put her on date for baptism for September 9th!! She is amazing and so full of faith in God.
- J and E came to our stakes production of, Families Are Eternal. It was one of the most stressful situations because the play was really cheesy and kind of weird but they loved it! It was so great! It definitely helped me learn to trust in the Lord more.

- My companion is so amazing! I can’t believe we are already half way through our second transfer together. It has been so fun and Spirit filled!
Jack's Donuts and Dr. Pepper for breakfast on p-day!
Today was a great p-day! We went to a fun donut shop called Jack's Donuts, and we talked to Jack for a while. Then we got lost trying to find Walmart, but we found a Hobby Lobby and an awesome Christian store! So we got to do some fun shopping and got awesome matching hoodies.

The VC has slowed down almost completely, but it is still such a huge blessing to be serving here. I love it!

This Mormon message is such a cute one! It is one that we show in a lot of homes. Even though it is a cartoon, it is so applicable to everyone! Fear, doubt and sin block the blessings that Heavenly Father is trying to give us. As we try to eliminate the fear, doubt and sin in our life and close our umbrella, we will be able to receive those blessings and feel of God's love even stronger. https://www.mormonchannel.org/watch/series/mormon-messages/shower-of-heavenly-blessings

I love you all!

Week 31: Raining Blessings

Hello!
This week has been so great! I am so blessed to be serving here in Independence with such great people and such great missionaries!

Some highlights from the week:
- Katie Cammack got her mission call to the England Birmingham Mission! I am so excited for her!
- We finally got to meet with J. and E., and they are coming to a production the stake is putting on, called families are eternal. I can't wait for them to learn more about families and the gospel
- Sister Welch and I have been working on making a timeline of MO Mormon history and we finished this week! It is huge but it has been so cool to see how all of the events came together
- We had an awesome lesson with R. and his nephew and his nephews girlfriend. The Spirit was so strong and they were really able to feel it. They asked a lot of great questions and we are meeting with them again later this week.
- It rained SO HARD this week! It was so fun, I am definitely not in Arizona anymore.

My spiritual message this week is short and simple, love everyone. Everyone deserves our love, we all go through hard times. If we are all to be disciples of Christ, we need to love just as He did. Really focus on not judging, and loving others this week, your heart will be so much happier.

I love all of you!
Sister Carmackle.... I mean Sister Michael?
(yes, someone really did ask Sister Welch that this week....)
